Hawkley &
its surroundings

Situated in a beautiful area of East Hampshire in
Southern England, Hawkley is surrounded by some of the
most diverse countyrside in the UK. There are woodlands,
arable and livestock farming, a vinyard and some
wonderful walks among the Hangers. This area sits in the
western end of the proposed South Downs National Park and
is currently designated as an AONB (area of outstanding
natural beauty).
the Hangers are steep wooded areas or chalk or upper
greensand where the trees are almost hanging on the sides
of the hills. there are many areas within the Hangers
that are "Sites of Special Scientific interest" (sssis)
or "Sites of Importance for Nature Conservation" (sincs)
